Jakarta, April 12, 2025 — MPK Indonesia and MPKW Jabodesiten, in collaboration with Sokrates, successfully organized a workshop titled “Navigating AI in Christian School” on Saturday, April 12, 2025, held at the BINUS Anggrek Campus, West Jakarta.
This event was part of the Bidik Bersama Christian Worldview (BBC) #4 series and was attended by 96 participants from various Christian schools under the MPK network.
The workshop was designed to equip Christian leaders and educators with the insights and skills necessary to navigate developments in Artificial Intelligence (AI), specifically within the context of faith-based education.
The opening session was led by Prof. Abba Suganda Girsang, S.T., M.Cs., Ph.D., who presented an "Overview: AI and Christian Education." He emphasized that AI is not merely a technological tool but can also serve as a medium to deliver more effective and creative learning that remains aligned with the values of faith in Christian education.
Following the introductory session, participants engaged in a series of structured training modules, all guided by Gintoro, S.Kom., M.M.:
1. Module 1 – Introduction to Prompt Engineering
Participants were introduced to techniques for crafting effective prompts to interact with AI models, enabling their use for various educational needs.
2. Module 2 – AI Applications for Text Processing
Participants engaged in hands-on sessions on how AI can be utilized to create written content, develop teaching materials, and perform text analysis to support learning.
3. Module 3 – AI Applications for Image and Visual Creation
This session explored the potential of AI in generating illustrations, educational visuals, and engaging graphic elements for classroom use.
4. Module 4 – AI Applications for Presentation and Material Design
Participants practiced using AI to help structure systematic, attractive presentations integrated with other teaching materials.
5. Module 5 – AI Applications for School Management and Organization
This final module demonstrated the application of AI in supporting managerial processes, such as automated report generation, school data analysis, and data-driven program planning.
Each module featured live demos, independent and group practice, and brief discussions to reinforce understanding and reflection. An additional session introduced the Sokrates platform, a digital transformation support system for Christian schools partnered with MPK Indonesia. Through Sokrates, Christian schools can access various features that streamline teaching and learning, data management, and efficient collaboration among educators.
The workshop concluded with a joint evaluation and final reflection. Beyond technical skills, the event provided a space to build critical awareness regarding ethics, the role of the teacher, and the integrity of faith in the use of AI technology within educational environments.
This initiative serves as a tangible manifestation of MPK Indonesia and MPKW Jabodesiten’s commitment to continuously supporting Christian schools in meeting the challenges of the times, particularly in the era of digital technology and artificial intelligence. AI is not just a trend but an opportunity to enhance the quality of education to be more meaningful, effective, and firmly rooted in Christian values.
